About the event
Monotype is a subtle, spontaneously creative one-of-a-kind print. It plays on the edge of control and a loose painterly application that allows for beautiful color interactions. Ink will be applied to a flat surface using brushes, stencils, masking, and other tools to create an image. This painterly image will then be transferred to paper for a one-of-a-kind print.
To enhance their unique monotypes, students will also explore additional complimentary mark-making through linocut relief carving techniques. The two processes will then be combined focusing on how to ink, register and print the block and plate together.
